Okay, technically I'm not at all interested in potty training Mallary (minus the having to buy the diapers part...), here's why:
Scenario One: I'm nursing Jonah, Mallary has to go potty. So, Trevan has to help. He opens the door for her, and from there on, Mallary can do it all by herself. Except, she locked the door. Uh oh, there's all kinds of goodies she would love to get her hands on in the bathroom. By the time I got in there, she had opened lotion, and tried to wash the lotion off, and there was water EVERYWHERE. Not fun.
Scenario Two: I'm nursing Jonah (notice the theme?), Mallary has to go potty. Trevan opens the door for her. I go to put Jonah down, and walk by the bathroom. Guess what? Mallary was wiping herself with the hand towel (not her hands)! What????? As my sister in law pointed out, at least I saw her do it...
Scenario Three: I'm nursing Jonah (okay, not this time...). Mallary only goes potty to get a treat. So, if she is hungry or wants a treat she will tell me she has to go potty. Yesterday, she picked Sponge Bob fruit snacks out as her treat for going potty and carried them all around the store. She tried to open them once, but I reminded her that they were for after she went potty. She then asked if she could go potty. I said no. So, she goes potty today and gets her treat. Five minutes later after she ate her pack of fruit snacks, she asked to go potty again. I remember Trevan did that same thing.
Bottom line: I just don't care enough to potty train her right now.
Oh well.
Hopefully she won't be wearing diapers in middle school...
