I have to say that phrase too many times when I am talking on the phone - BECAUSE MY KIDS ARE CRAZY.
We go over phone etiquette ALL the time! Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. Many moms will tell you, there is just something about it, when you pick up a phone, the kids go crazy!
Usually, I go to the garage to carry on a conversation. It's the only way to escape the voices of my children, and carry on a conversation in peace! Though one time Mallary was banging on the door while screaming, and the person on the phone could totally hear.
Plus, "kid-tastrophes" always happen when moms are on the phone.
Case in point:
Today while talking to one friend on the phone, her girls were in the bathtub, and her two year old pooped in the bath. Classic.
Then, while talking to another friend on the phone (who had been cleaning in the kitchen before picking up the phone), after stepping out of the kitchen for a second while on the phone, she walked back in the kitchen to find that her two year old had dumped her cleaner ALL over.
Mallary always tries to get away with helping herself to whatever she likes in the fridge or counters while I'm distracted on the phone. Little stinker. I think she had two or three of those smaller Go-Gurt things during one of my phone conversations today.
This afternoon I had to end a phone conversation with this, "Yeah, I gotta go, so I can put my kids in time out." They were totally screaming!
Sometimes, talking on the phone is hazadarous to a mother's (mental) health.

Thanks for the reminder. It's 11pm and you are just reminding me that I haven't taken care of the poop yet...
Literally laughed out loud at that! Love it!
My mother would tell you that it's not just kids that always "need" something while she is on the phone . . .
