I've been thinking about my Tuesday Tips lately. I've had some to post, and I always have plenty of material to photograph thanks to Mallary, but...
When I started my Tuesday Tips, Mallary was around fifteen months old. It was kind of funny back then, "a look into the life of a mom with a small toddler..." now, I guess, I'm tired... and when I walk by my walls that are covered in Mallary's artistic expressions, I just think of how much I'd like to repaint my walls. I'm tired of catching her right before she colors on the wall, or the table, or the end table, or a book. I guess, that's better than catching her after she does it, but I'm just tired of it, period. And, I'm tired of cleaning it up.
Today, I walk in the living room and Mallary has applied blue "lipstick" (markers). Picture the Queen in Alice and Wonderland, but with blue. Exasperated, I take it from her, "Where did you find this????" In the toy basket. Of course. How it made it there, I'll never know. Now, it has a nice home in the trash can.
I've tried to make a better routine to leave her less time to be... umm... creative? I've tried to give her a set time to use all that creative energy, but I guess I should know that muses come when they want to.
I've heard that some day I'll miss the scribbles on the wall. Oh, really? Really??? How can that even be possible? I can imagine I'll miss the cute, little girl that asks everyone, "What's your name?" but I don't see me missing the circles that have been drawn on every available surface in my home.
Oh, wait. I won't miss them. There are plenty of those drawn in so many places that they'll be around forever. They'll just keep popping up for the rest of my life.
I think when Mallary's a teenager, I'm going to go into her room, take her lipstick, and draw circles on her mirror, in her notebooks, and a big, fat one on her face. I think I'll take great delight in doing that.
Two days ago, Mallary had her three year old check up. The Doctor asked me, "Can she draw a good circle?"
"Yes," I respond, "she draws very good circles."

Have you tried Magic Eraser? It works great on most "artwork".
Magic eraser also takes off the paint. You can't really tell, but if the light hits it a certain way and you are looking at it at the right angle you can tell that spot has been scrubbed. It basically takes off the satin layer part of your paint. I already have enough of those spots and don't want anymore. They bug me as much as the scribbles :) OCD, I know...

True. I don't use it my dining room for that reason, as the red seems extra susceptible (and it takes like 5 coats to do red!). I use on my white trim/doors mostly. Haven't noticed a dulling, but I try not to look closely! Also use it on my "scrubbable" flat paint. Seems okay there too, but it's not as scrubbable as I thought it would be. Doesn't take off all crayon.
