Peeking - A Christmas Tradition

When I was growing up, the month of December was one big treasure hunt. If mom and dad left, the search was on for where the Christmas gifts were. They were usually pretty easy to find. Sometimes, I would even unwrap part of a present to see what it was, and then wrap it up back up ever so neatly.

I'm not like that anymore. There isn't much excitement in my life, so it's nice to at least have the excitement of what a gift will be on the holidays.

Besides, I guess I've passed on that trait to my daughter.

My dad came a few days ago and dropped off some Christmas presents, and he let the kids open a few from him, and then I put the bag with the rest of them by the Christmas tree, planning to move it after he left. He left, and I forgot to move it.

I was on the computer, and all of a sudden I heard a baby crying. I turned around and there was Mallary holding a baby doll I had never seen before. I peek around the corner, and she had opened up all of the remaining presents except for two, while Trevan just sat and watched her.

She had an early Christmas this year.
