June 2011 - Jamaica!

In 2010, John won a trip to the Bahamas at his job. We couldn't go because of the timing, we had just had Jonah and wouldn't be able to go.

So, this year John's work had a Jamaica trip and there was a spot available and John's managers chose to send him because he wasn't able to go last year, and he had a lot of clients that would be there.

So, my sister watched our kids and we flew to Jamaica and stayed at the Ritz Carlton!

These pictures aren't so great of us, but oh well. And, the last section of pictures are from a waterproof camera, and they are really bad, and I didn't buy a cheap one either. Such a waste!!

Before our first dinner there

This was our beach.  The bottom was kind of rocky.  The other side of Jamaica is the smooth sandy beach part.

We enjoyed the food!  I loved meeting the people that John work with, and seeing people meet John in person after having conversations with him over the phone for so long.  Of course everyone loves John and people just gush over him. It was funny to sit at dinner with his clients and talk to them when they are hammered!  One of the nights there talking to one of his drunk clients is the only time I have like hit John's leg under the table and been like, "Save me!  Let's get out of here!"  I was done trying to carry on a conversation with someone who didn't remember what he said two minutes prior.  I met one of his client's wife and she was so wasted, her response to me was unintelligible.  Her husband looked a little embarrased.  Needless to say, I saw her the next morning and she did not look good...  But it was so fun to sit and talk to people that work with him and to hear them say such genuinely nice things about John.

John's brother works for the same company, so he and my sister in law were there too!

Mike and Cheryl with us.

Fireworks ended the evening

There were frogs all over the windows

We loved relaxing under this sea grape tree!

We went out on this little catamaran with like a meshy rope bottom to it... The water was so beautiful!

I absolutely loved this and it freaked me out a little bit too.  (The theory of Flow - Any recreation majors out there?) Think about Jaws or something, it's not like I'm in a boat with sides or anything...  This guy has been doing this for a long time and he told us his son is deathly afraid of water.  Of course held captive on a boat with John means we found out lots about him...he's lucky we didn't come away with his social security number or something...   All of the Jamaicans that worked at the resort were so insanely nice, but once outside the resort we didn't encounter any Jamaicans that were quite as friendly.

Our hotel from the sea

I could not wait until the hammock was empty - I spent some time here with my Nook.

We went on a day trip to Dunns River Falls which is on the other side of Jamaica.  Where you hike up a waterfall. The ride over was so fun because our driver was so funny.  In Jamaica if you want to tell someone they have a nice butt you say, "Nice bumper!"  The food we had for lunch was so good too!  It was funny, because when we had lunch we ended up sitting at the same table as some other LDS people that we hiked up the falls with but didn't know it.  Also, at the same table was one of John's clients that he works with over the phone, but had never met in person.  So that was fun!  It is crazy to see all the shacks in Jamaica.  Literally you fly into Jamaica and you see the Sandals Resort has a huge tall fence around it with barbed wire at the top... Ummm... I wouldn't want to stay there, you don't see that on their brochures for sure...

I wish they let you play on the beach here at the Falls, it was so gorgeous!

It was so nice and fun to get away and spend time with John!
