October 2010 Birthdays

I think there is an unspoken tradition in my family that we get together the first weekend of October. I mean, no one has ever said this is our family tradition, but it happens regularly enough to be one I think... We enjoy apple dumplings, general conference, and birthdays!

This was Trevan's actual birthday, but Candi's birthday is the next day, and then two of my nieces birthdays are in October as well, Sophie and Kate, and Mallary's is in October too, so we celebrate everyone.

We had a crab boil for dinner. Crab is Trevan's favorite, and Candi requested the crab boil. It was delish.

Everyone looks so excited to be together, huh??

I wish I was more like my mother.

She was a ray of sunshine; always smiling, so positive, encouraging, and constantly serving others. She was an angel with a heart of gold.

My mom would call me "Sunshine" to emphasize the fact that I wasn't so cheery. She often said, "Good Morning Sunshine," just to be facetious. Once, in a letter to me, she wrote, "on a good day, you are a ray of sunshine."

So, witness my efforts to become more like my mother as I try to focus on the positive, and serve others more. I want her legacy of love to live on in me.

Many women are afraid of becoming like their mother; I'm afraid I won't.
