Lesson of the Day

Mallary on 9/26/2010

Since Jonah was sick on Monday, he hasn't been going to bed very well.  He ended up sleeping with us last night.  Then, sometime in the middle of the night, Mallary joined the party too.  However, I had about twelve inches (of a king sized bed) to sleep in.  Let's just say, I didn't sleep very well...  At one point I was resting my arm on my night stand, that's how little room I had.

I was in the middle of a dream, and while in that dream I felt something warm, my eyes immediately pop open, and I touch where the warm is... I was SOAKED in Mallary's pee.  She had peed the bed.  Not just any bed, but MY bed where I was sleeping.  G-ross!

It was five in the morning, I got up, got Mallary up, and woke John up so he could take Jonah to the guest bed while Mallary and I showered and changed the sheets.

We really don't mind our kids sleeping in our bed every now and then, but after last night (technically, this morning) I won't be so willing.

The one thing I'm thankful for though is that fleece sheets hold liquid very well.  I didn't leak through to the mattress pad!  Also, because I think I got most of it.

Today's lesson:

1.  Letting your child sleep in your bed - BAD!
2.  Fleece sheets on your bed - VERY GOOD!

my friend would leave a sleeping bag in her closet and if a kid came in during the night they were only allowed to stay if they slept on the sleeping bag. not once has a kid slept in her bed.
