August 2010 part I

We went to my niece, Caroline's baptism. (SIDE STORY: (rember these?) It seems like every time we get together with my family, John makes it an "experience." This time he forgot his suit pants, and didn't realize it until late the night before. He thought he would have enough time to go buy some before the baptism, but he got lost and missed the whole thing. What's so funny is that at the neices baptism before that one, he started throwing up at church at her baptism, and missed standing in the circle at that one too! He's so funny that John...)

I wish I was more like my mother.

She was a ray of sunshine; always smiling, so positive, encouraging, and constantly serving others. She was an angel with a heart of gold.

My mom would call me "Sunshine" to emphasize the fact that I wasn't so cheery. She often said, "Good Morning Sunshine," just to be facetious. Once, in a letter to me, she wrote, "on a good day, you are a ray of sunshine."

So, witness my efforts to become more like my mother as I try to focus on the positive, and serve others more. I want her legacy of love to live on in me.

Many women are afraid of becoming like their mother; I'm afraid I won't.
