Let me preface the rest of the post with this:
Trevan doesn't have school today...
This morning was like most mornings in our home - Mallary and Trevan fighting over toys, Mallary screaming, Mallary or Trevan chasing the other to get a toy, and Trevan repeating something over and over (This morning: Trevan chasing Mallary - Give me my guys, I want to play with them! Give me my guys, I want to play with them! Give me my guys, I want to play with them!).
John came up the stairs telling them to stop it (for the one hundredth time), then came in our room. I said to him: "I know you are excited that you don't have to deal with this today. I bet you get in your car every morning and breath a sigh of relief that you get to go to work."
He said he doesn't think that; but I bet this morning, he jumped in the air and clicked his heels together before getting in the car.
I probably would have.
Let's just say it's been an exceptionally dramatic morning... (with one pleasant period of about 45 minutes where they played perfectly together)
May your weekend be better than my morning!!

Jeryl once sort of admitted (when I pressed him) that after a 3-day weekend he is glad to go back to work.
When Kate and Sophie fight, I have started making them do extra cleaning for me. Things that they can't mess up and that I never get around to, so if they don't do a great job, it doesn't hurt. In particular: they each get a damp rag and have to scrub the dining chairs and walls. They still fight, but at least I'm getting something out of it! Marina and Sam aren't really old enough though, and they're already fighting.
