What did I do yesterday?

I knew you were wondering...

Well, yesterday morning, I pack the kids and myself in the car to go to my OB appointment, put the key in the ignition, turn it, and nothing. I look up. Why did you look up? you may ask. Well, my kids like to turn the inside car lights on before exiting the car, and you guessed it, the light button was pushed in, meaning the light had been turned on. When was the last time I drove my car, you ask? Sunday! Dead battery. Luckily, my neighbor came and gave my car a jump. (Have I mentioned how wonderful it is to have great neighbors you can call at any time?) I was thirty minutes late to my appointment.

My kids were great at my appointment.

We have lunch with John at work where Mallary wasn't so great. After thirty minutes, I don't think John could take it anymore, and was like, "You better go before Mallary gets any worse..."

I go to Sam's Club. My children walked on either side of the cart so nicely all the way to the back of the store. I was thinking to myself how good they were being, and at that exact moment a man said, "You're kids are walking by the cart being so good!" I told him I was just thinking the same thing, then he said, "I probably just jinxed you then."

Sigh.

Trevan was cake, and Mallary was too until right before we checked out. I was contemplating buying some flower bulbs, and I guess I was contemplating too long, because Mallary got bored. She drifted a little too far away, and when I told her to come back, she walked backwards away from me slowly. My normal tactics of making her come back to my side were not working, and I started going after her. She, in turn, turned around and ran as fast as her little legs could carry her. Which, in turn, made me have to sprint (picture big, pregnant woman sprinting) down the aisle quite a ways to get her. She gets an immediate time out once I get to her, and I get to stand there non-chalantly while spectating shoppers walk by. Her time out ends, and we walk back to where Trevan is. A man walking by, stopped when we got to him and said to me, "I'm amazed at your agility." I guess he saw me from behind running, but didn't realize I was pregnant until walking towards him. It was pretty funny.

From there on, my day went downhill. Mallary was just in one of her moods (probably from not getting her full nap), and I literally got nothing done. John came home, and I told him I was retiring, and escaped to my bed. I tried to relax, but just kept thinking of all the stuff I needed to get done, and didn't that day, but couldn't force myself to do now. I could still hear Mallary whine, scream, and fuss at John downstairs, so I decided to go to the grocery store, and return after she was in bed.

"And, you're having another baby because...?" I totally heard you say that through the computer.

If I am being honest, on days like yesterday, I ask myself that too.

But, one day, my kids will thank me that they have either a brother to play golf with, or a sister to call and complain to, or go shopping with. Even if they don't thank me, they'll be grateful they have them, and I'll be grateful that they have each other.
