Taste of my own medicine

Here's the scene:

I'm sitting in Mallary's floor with her clothes in hand trying to get her to come close enough to me so I can get her dressed.

She is playing with a toy conveniently just out of my reach, and eyeing me every so often to see when I'm going to move.

I'm tired of waiting, too tired to chase after her.

"Mallary, come here so we can get your clothes on."

Without skipping a beat she replied,

"Just a second," and then looked at me and smiled a "that sounds familiar, doesn't it mom?" smile.

That was the first time she has ever said that to me, but it was envetible considering I use that to try and quiet her whining at me quite regularly.

So, clever. That little monkey.

sounds like a parents true punishment, when your child says what you say to them, as a way to get back at you. :)
