What day is it today?

I think my husband has scarred Trevan.

Trevan spends at least half his day running around our house, and the majority of the time he is running, he is also making gun noises, or monster noises. He runs from the door to the fireplace, from the fridge to the living room, from the door to the couches, and occasionally around the island in the kitchen. I think he imagines himself in a chase scene or some fighting scene in Star Wars or something.

Sometimes, I don't even notice his running, I'm so used to it. My only rule is that he not do it while Mallary sleeps, or when I'm on the phone. John doesn't enjoy it so much, and he gave Trevan another rule - no running on Sunday. John uses the "keep the Sabbath Day holy" reason, or that's what he tells Trevan, but the real reason is because it gets on John's nerves. So, on Sundays, this is what I hear come from John's mouth, "Are you running? Do you want to go sit in your room?" This is what I hear Trevan respond with, "I was jumping. I was hopping..." Poor Trevan.

Now, almost every morning Trevan will ask, "What day is it today?" If we say any other day than Sunday, he says, "Yay! I can run!" Isn't that sad?

If we tell him it's Saturday, he says, "Yay! I can watch the Ninja Turtle cartoon!"
