In my family, traditionally, my Grandma makes custard during the holidays. My dad also started making it. It is a cold custard, not baked. Just think egg nog minus the spices. You eat it plain or with pound cake.
One morning, John informed me he wanted to make my family's custard. I said, "Have fun with that." It takes a long time. For example, I called my sister that day and she was making custard too. She told me she had to call dad, because on her recipe she had just written, "cook forever." Too funny.
John got the recipe and stirred his little heart out.
