Tuesday Tips - 101 Things to do with crayons

Okay, maybe only five...

TIP #1: Let your child draw a ruler on the marble around your fireplace to measure how tall they are.

TIP #2: Let your child practice writing their letters on your walls. Who needs paper???

So, I was on the floor leaning against the couch and all of a sudden I noticed the two artistic creations shown above drawn on our fireplace. Who knows how long they had been there...
At first I was like, "Ugh! That Mallary!" Then I noticed the letter, 'T,' and Mallary can't write her letters yet... I confronted Trevan and he said he just wanted to measure how tall he was. I told him if he writes on the walls or any furniture again that I will throw the crayons in the trash. He knows I'll do it too, so I'm pretty sure that won't be happening again. He has never done that, he sees Mallary doing it, and I guess he thought it was okay. So fun!

TIP #3: Tired of the color of your carpet? Don't order new carpet just enlist your children to help you change the color. Aren't crayons the best invention????

No, thanks Mallary. We had green carpet when we lived in Utah. We didn't like it then, and we don't like it now.

TIP #4: You don't need to buy fingernail polish if you have crayons around!!

Mallary's new hobby.

TIP #5: Throw away all of your crayons ASAP!!
Seriously. I have way too much artwork from Mallary on my walls to take pictures of. Not to mention crayons cover our floor for half the day. Mallary also loves to break them. For me it's a love/hate relationship because she likes to color so much, but crayons are so annoying!! Just yesterday, I bought some at the store, and while Mallary was in the cart holding them, she decided to dump them out. Like 52 card pick up, but 64 crayon pick up while other shoppers watched on.

I hate crayons. Really, I do.

Once I was subbing in Primary. I told the kiddies to finish coloring their pictures at home. One girl tells me that there are no crayons at her house. I didn't believe her. Later, I told her mom what she had said, like it was so cute and funny. Her mom said it was true - no crayons cause they drive her crazy all over the floor all the time! At the time I thought that was kind of harsh, but now I am coming around to that line of thinking. S and K were okay, but M is going to break me! She's coloring all over walls, peels the paper off all over, and they're always on the floor. When I'm sweeping, I don't even bother to pick them up. Into the garbage they go with the crumbs.

Another thing to do with crayons. Draw a Pirate Treasure Map from Gavyn's room all of the way down the hallway.......... with red and blue crayons. Gavyn's room got the huge "X" marks the spot. That was exciting to clean up. (Still haven't gone over it a second time like I need to...stupid surgery)
