Hit the Gym

Vision Board Highlight: You hit the gym. Hard.

You know you go to the gym a lot when...
  • you walk into spin class and someone has taken “your” bike.

  • you are listening to the radio and imagine a spinning routine to go along with the music.

  • you have an instructors workout memorized.

  • every song on the radio reminds you of something you do at the gym.

  • you find yourself doing step touches while cooking, on the phone, or in the shower.

  • an instructor says 15 more seconds, and you know it really means 30.

  • you don’t have to scan your card when you walk in the gym (one employee sees me in the parking lot and signs me in before I even open the door.)

  • your daughter finally wants to go into the play area all by herself.

  • the childcare staff finally learns to spell your children’s names correctly.

  • the employees don’t look surprised to see you coming back in the same day.

  • you can point out the wanderers and the workers at the gym. (The wanderers are the people that come to the gym, and casually drift from machine to machine “inspecting” them and leave the gym sweat free. The workers are the ones that go to the machines and actually work.)

  • you ask your son where his favorite place is, and he says, “the exercise place.”

  • you get annoyed when an instructor isn’t teaching the class the way it should be taught.

  • the “Roger rabbit” and Janet Jackson moves no longer get your heart rate up. (It’s true - in one aerobics class she has us do the Roger rabbit and sassy Janet Jackson moves. She was obviously a dancer in her younger days.)

  • talking about food in class doesn’t make you hungry anymore. (“grapevine,” “ham it back” (hamstring curls))

  • people notice when you aren’t there.

  • they reserve a parking space for you. (Okay, that hasn’t really happened…yet!)

  • you can’t stay away long enough for your injuries to heal.

  • you hear the word, “plank,” and not pass out at the thought.

  • you tell someone you changed your gym membership to an elite membership, and they respond by saying, “Did they give it to you because you’re there so much?”

  • you know way more about strangers lives than you should

  • strangers become acquaintances and acquaintances become friends.

*Friday Family feature will return next week.

I guess this means I go to the gym a lot! :) And you know you have gone a lot when I have Gavyn changing his clothes in the family bathroom for swim lessons while I drop off Jarom at the daycare next to it, and Gavyn comes walking in the daycare completely naked and all the workers say "Oh! Gavyn!"
