Rise and Shine!

It seems my son has my genetics and his body doesn't require as much sleep as most bodies do.

It's a blessing and a curse.

It's a curse at slumber party (or at my husband's family reunions) when you are the first to wake up.

It's a curse when you'd like nothing more to be in bed, asleep, but cannot, for your body cries, "ENOUGH!"

It's a curse when he shuts the bathroom door so loudly and locks it - waking up other members of the family.  ("Trevan, you do not need to shut the door all the way or lock it when you go to the bathroom at five in the morning.  NO ONE is going to walk in on you using the bathroom!!  Or go downstairs to use the bathroom."   We go over this a lot...)

It's a blessing that will serve him well one day as a college student and father.

It's a blessing that serves me well as a mother, for I never have to drag him out of bed...

As long as he never drags his "not so blessed" roommate out of bed during the wee hours of the AM to walk him to work....
