Sigh...

Tonight I typed up four 'to do' lists complete with little squares next to each item for me to put a little 'x' in once I finish them.

I taped them on the wall.

They aren't even complete...

I couldn't bear to add anything else to them.

It's overwhelming.

One 'x' at a time, I guess.

I think I'm going to convert to being Amish. Life seems simpler that way.

But, I'd miss all the things on my 'to do' list.

Well, except for the cleaning the kitchen item.

But, even if I was Amish, I guess I'd still have to clean the kitchen.

I think all the party planning things on my to do list would be simplified. Barn raisings wouldn't require much effort.

Do the Amish use fondant?

I don't know if they do but I saw these cupcakes with fondant gerber daises on them. Wow they were cute! You should try it out :)

I think you need some lessons from me on how to be lazier!

But seriously, I've pondered that whole "my modern life" versus "19th century woman's life" and there is something to be said for that simplicity. I think they worked MUCH harder than us physically, but maybe felt like they accomplished more? When I spend hours researching and changing our health insurance plan, I don't feel as though I've accomplished very much. It's not satisfying work.

But I guess I wouldn't switch, even if I could.

Mrs. Holly! I just stopped in to see how you and your cute family are doing! You are so fun to read about! I can totally relate to so much of it...especially these dang lists. I switched it up one day and just listed all the things I accomplished, one by one. It felt good to see that list grow...and you better believe I put every little thing on there! It was very fulfilling and even invigorating. (I often feel exhausted after crossing everything off of a long list.) But, I haven't been able to permanently switch to this kind of list because I keep forgetting to do things!! Alas. Well, take care - your family seems so wonderful! It's fun to see pictures of little Jonah!
