Please tell him

Okay, admittedly, I used to spend a lot of money on bath items, expensive shampoos and hair products. I have totally reigned myself in since I've been married. I can honestly say I never would have thought in a million years that I would spend more on body wash for my husband in a year, than I would spend on myself and my children combined. Seriously. Please weigh in.

For example, the bottles above - My body wash is 8oz., and lasts me about 6-8 months, at least. You only need a small drop to get a good lather. I also always get it on sale, or whatever kind I use on sale. John's body wash is 18oz. He got this December 25, 2009 from Santa in his stocking. (Santa likes to give necessities too.) He didn't even start using it right away, because he still had some at home to finish using first. So, this bottle of body wash has lasted barely one month. ONE MONTH! Don't you think that's a little crazy? John doesn't believe me. He says, "I'm a big guy," or "At least I'm clean." He thinks you need a good two inches of lather on your body, all over your body, to ensure cleanliness... Yes, at least he's clean, but really??? So, maybe if John hears it from more than one person, he'll believe me. What do you think?

(And, yes. John knows I'm blogging about this. No worries.)

Yes, I agree with you, that is extreme. Burke goes through a body wash that size every six months and he showers and uses it everyday. And he smells very clean. ;)

Yes, that's excessive. But I love that his excuse is, "I'm a big guy." LOL!

Bar soap!

hey there said...

Let a man have his body wash-thats right at least he is clean and not smelly --he wants to impress you!

Heather - He goes through bar soap the same way, except probably faster, and it leaves soap scum to clean up after. (which technically I shouldn't complain about because he cleans the bathrooms, but you can tell a bathroom is dirty sooner if someone uses bar soap vs. body wash)

Marianne - You know he uses deodorant and shampoo the same way. We could probably save AT LEAST $100 a year if he cut back and used the proper amount of all of those things. What do you think - is $100 a year worth griping about? You know I could do a lot of things with $100...

I was going to say what Heather said, "Bar Soap!" but then I saw your reply that you are anti. So I've got nothin. We both use and prefer bar soap in my house so I have no idea how long body wash should last, but it does seem excessive. :)

Let the man have a thick foamy lather in the shower! I'm on John's side with this. It's not as if he's using $40/bottle of soap once a month. It's under $5, right?
When I saw the photo, I thought you were going to say that he uses the B&BW stuff and you used Irish Spring! :)

LOL Jen.

Okay, I should have added that he uses AT LEAST 40 strokes of deodorant under each pit (yes, I've counted it's that ridiculous), and almost fills his PALM up with shampoo to wash his hair. I keep telling him he should aim for a quarter size squirt of shampoo. When a man who has very little hair on his head goes through shampoo faster than his wife who has long hair, I think we have a problem. A problem I may be living with forever...

I've heard of people who water down shampoo, etc. to save money. You could try that, but he might notice the difference.

Oooh... That's pretty clever. He wouldn't notice a difference... Too funny.
