Gift Basket Christmas Tradition

I usually give at least one gift basket during the Christmas season.

My mom talked about how when she was younger their family would receive food gift baskets for Christmas and her brothers would think it was such a boring gift, because who wants food as a gift??

I love food gift baskets! Plus, you can wrap them all pretty! (Using shrink wrap and a hair dryer - a very useful tip I learned working at Bath & Body Works in college!)

I wish I was more like my mother.

She was a ray of sunshine; always smiling, so positive, encouraging, and constantly serving others. She was an angel with a heart of gold.

My mom would call me "Sunshine" to emphasize the fact that I wasn't so cheery. She often said, "Good Morning Sunshine," just to be facetious. Once, in a letter to me, she wrote, "on a good day, you are a ray of sunshine."

So, witness my efforts to become more like my mother as I try to focus on the positive, and serve others more. I want her legacy of love to live on in me.

Many women are afraid of becoming like their mother; I'm afraid I won't.
